HOW TO DRESS TO LOOK SLIMMER

Follow these easy tips for looking slimmer instantly.

Buy clothes that fit you:
If you wear the wrong size clothing, you'll end up looking bigger than you actually are. Clothes that are too tight shows off every bulge, and clothing that is too big makes you look even bigger.

Choose items which skim over the areas you want to disguise:
For instance, if you want to make your tummy look flatter, move away from skin tight vests, and rather choose a flattering tunic.

Use caution when buying pants:
Choose pants with a smooth front. Pleated pants tend to puff out below the waistband, drawing attention to your stomach. When buying jeans, pay attention to the rise. Too high a rise can create the illusion of a tummy, and too low a rise can lead to belly fat hanging over the top of your jeans. Take the time to find the perfect fitting pants and jeans, and then buy a few pairs in the different colours – this will save your lots of time in the future.

Make sure you are wearing the correct underwear:
This is VERY important – this is the foundation of any good fitting outfit. Choose supportive styles which help to pull in your tummy, most leading chain stores stock a good selection. A well fitted bra can also help to create a smoother slimmer figure. Take the time to go get a bra fitting at a good underwear store – you’ll be forever grateful you did.

Highlight your good bits:
If you have a beautiful slender neck, but a bit of weight on your waistline, draw attention up to your neck with an eye catching necklace. If you have toned arms, wear a sleeveless top to make the most of your assets.

Work on your posture:
Stand up straight, pull your stomach in, and hold your shoulders back. Slumping will cause you to look shorter and less balanced. Bad posture can also make you look like you have back fat when you sit down and can make your stomach spill over the top of your pants. Walking upright also gives the impression that you are very confident, and tends to also make you feel more confident. Wearing high heels helps with this.

Wear more black clothing:
Black virtually slims out everyone, and reduces the appearance of belly fat, muffin tops, and love handles. Black can easily be dressed up with high heeled shoes, jewellery and a beautiful evening purse, or dressed down to look more casual. If you are wearing head to toe black, add pops of colour with jewellery, a colourful handbag, a pretty scarf or different coloured shoes. Please take care when doing this though, as the colours still need to go with the full outfit.

Avoid horizontal stripes:
This one's pretty obvious - stripes that go horizontally across a shirt or a pair of pants will undoubtedly make your body look wider than you really are. If you like stripes, rather stick to vertical stripes, but still do this with caution as stripes will widen over wider parts of the body.

Be clever with colours:
Darker colours make things look smaller, and lighter brighter colour draw attention, making things look bigger. So use darker colours in place you’d like to make smaller and lighter colours in places you’d like to emphasise. If this is done correctly, you can create the perfect hourglass figure.

Use patterns to your advantage:
Larger ladies should avoid fabrics with very large prints, but the smaller prints can be very useful in hiding the bumps you might have in the wrong places. Go for a dress that is shaped, but not tight, and is made completely out of dark fabric with a small to medium sized print on it. This creates busyness for the eye, and hides most imperfections.

Avoid high heels with a tapered heel:
Shoes with a long slim tapered heel will make you look to top heavy, so rather stick to thicker straight down heels for more of a balanced look.
